Pelosi: House Will Pass COBRA Subsidies, State Aid
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Tuesday that the House would return to the debate over COBRA subsidies and aid to state governments when Congress returns, and may package both of them together. The spending was cut from a jobs bill the House passed Friday in order to mollify Democrats concerned about the deficit. The House returns next week.
“There’s a changed climate in terms of the size of the spending/investment packages that we’re putting forth,” said Pelosi in a conference call with progressive media, explaining why she scuttled COBRA and state aid. “If I had all the votes I needed in a non-Blue Dog world, I would not have had to make some of the changes I made to get some Blue Dog support.”

Trujillo Family Serves Homeless In Honor Of Deceased Daughter
When 28-year-old Wendy Trujillo was killed in a car crash in 2005, students and teachers at the Costa Mesa, Calif. school where she taught raised $3,000 to give to her family. The money was a gift to help her family continue to serve as their daughter had done. The young woman had a passion for helping local homeless and spent weekends serving underprivileged children in Mexico.
The Orange County Register reports, the Trujillo family used the funds to start a nonprofit organization called Los NiƱos de la Calle con Wendy (The Children of the Street with Wendy). The Trujillos planned trips to Tijuana, helping poor children by giving them shoes. The family also used the fund to benefit their community by donating backpacks full of school supplies to local schoolchildren and setting up a college scholarship fund at Anaheim High School.

Arkansas Cop Killer Linked to ‘Patriot’ Movement
Jerry Ralph Kane Jr., the man who was killed with his son Thursday after apparently gunning down two West Memphis, Ark., police officers, traveled the country before the encounter giving classes in “redemption foreclosure mortgage fraud” — an apparent variation on a scheme common among antigovernment “Patriots.”
According to a blurb on a website called Pro Blog: Blog for Professionals, that was the title that Kane gave to an all-day class he gave on Aug. 29, 2009, in Fontana, Calif. In several YouTube videos of the Fontana class, Kane can be heard discussing such Patriot theories as the idea that only gold and silver are real money.

Karl Rove Slams Fox News Hosts For Bringing Up Anti-Rove Protesters (VIDEO)
Fox News contributor Karl Rove directed some unfriendly fire at the hosts of “Fox and Friends” this weekend when the show’s anchors decided to ask Rove to respond to protesters who disrupted the former top Bush adviser’s book tour.
“This is sad, you people are recycling stuff that happened three to four weeks ago, this is a small blemish on what was a great trip,” Rove said when asked about members of the group Code Pink who showed up at a March 30 book signing in Beverly Hills, Calif., called Rove a “war criminal” and brandished handcuffs.
