Our nation is already deeply in debt. How can we possibly afford to invest in our infrastructure, renewable energy, health care, our schools--and create the millions of jobs that our unemployed desperately need?
We are told that we're already living well beyond our means - that entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security will bankrupt us. Forget the solar panels, the smaller classes and the new jobs--we've got to cut back on government programs at all levels.

Arianna: If Obama Supports Public Option, It Could Pass Senate
Arianna appeared on "The Ed Show" Thursday to talk about health care reform and the growing possibility that a public option could be approved in the Senate.
Arianna told Ed Schultz that she's convinced that if President Obama comes out and supports the public option, the Senate will support it. "It's clear that we can easily have 50 [votes], or even 53 [votes] provided the White House makes it clear that they want the public option."

Roy Sekoff: Massa Is The Navy’s Problem Now (VIDEO)
Roy Sekoff appeared on "The Ed Show" Wednesday to weigh in on yesterday's bizarre media blitz by former Democratic congressman Eric Massa.
When asked by Ed Schultz if Democrats should respond to Massa's claims that the health care reform bill will "destroy this country," Sekoff argued that the party should let it go. Massa isn't their problem anymore. "Yesterday, it was a problem for the Democrats. Last night it was a problem for Glenn Beck. Today it's a bigger problem for the Navy."

Markos Moulitsas To Kucinich: You’ll Be Primaried If You Kill Reform
Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas warned on Tuesday night that if Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) plays a role in killing health care reform, a Democratic primary challenger would almost certainly await him in the next election.
In an appearance on MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Moulitsas conveyed pointed frustration with the Ohio Democrat's pledge to oppose reform on grounds that it doesn't go far enough. He said Kucinich was practicing a "very Ralph Nader-esque approach" to politics.

Food, Shelter, Disease Research Most Important For Giving, Poll Shows
A new poll conducted by PARADE suggests what many in the nonprofit world have suspected: that the economic recession has made Americans more inclined to give and be involved in their communities, especially as it relates to helping the needy. It's also likely to benefit future generations, as 90% of American parents say they teach their children the importance of activism.
One of the most telling aspects of the poll is how it analyzes the causes Americans care about. Over 1,000 were asked how they would donate $100,000 to various causes. Applicants supported "food and shelter for the needy" the most, with "research to cure disease" coming in at a close second. Disaster relief, animal welfare and youth programs were third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Sick of the Health Care Distraction
I am sick of the health care being used to distract Americans from the real problems with our country. Republicans and democrats alike are using health care to manipulate the American public, me and you. One side is jamming it down our throats and the other side doing everything it can to stop it even if it has merits. None of us have a clue of what we are getting or not getting because of all the politics. And all this is taking place while neither side is doing anything to improve the conditions for our country.
Is anyone else out there other than Jesse Ventura sick of politicians getting us to focus on what they want rather than what America needs? Why can't the problems in our country be approached on the basis of priority and greatest good, rather than politics? The people I talk to everyday are concerned with jobs, opportunities, increasing their incomes, saving money and reducing the country's debts more than health care. Is health care merely a 'red-herring' to distract each us from what our elected officials don't want us to focus on? Is it possible that 'professional' politicians are using health care so Americans take sides against one another, rather than joining together to no longer tolerate political incompetence from both sides?
