Roy Sekoff: Massa Is The Navy’s Problem Now (VIDEO)

Roy Sekoff appeared on "The Ed Show" Wednesday to weigh in on yesterday's bizarre media blitz by former Democratic congressman Eric Massa.

When asked by Ed Schultz if Democrats should respond to Massa's claims that the health care reform bill will "destroy this country," Sekoff argued that the party should let it go. Massa isn't their problem anymore. "Yesterday, it was a problem for the Democrats. Last night it was a problem for Glenn Beck. Today it's a bigger problem for the Navy."

Roy Sekoff Compares Non-Jobs Parts Of Obama Speech To Dialogue In Porn Film (VIDEO)

Huffington Post Editor Roy Sekoff appeared on MSNBC's The Ed Show tonight to discuss what to look for in President Obama's State of the Union address. Sekoff emphasized that while the speech is sure to address a wide array of topics and challenges, there is only one that really matters: jobs.

Sekoff: Really when you look at this, all these things that you've mentioned are like dialogue in a porn movie. No matter how good they are, it's not why people are going to tune in... It's all about the jobs. It's all about letting the middle class know that this past year, where it's been all about Wall Street, has been a big mistake, and he's going to stop that and start making them the top priority.

‘Game Change’ Holds Out Women For Particular Contempt

One of the emails last night beseeched me to pay particular attention to the rather shabby treatment of the prominent female figures -- Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Edwards, Cindy McCain, and Sarah Palin -- in "Game Change". That's a pretty sound urging, to my mind: in the world of consequence-free gossip-mongering, women often fare the worst. As it turns out, Salon's Joan Walsh, unpacking after a frustrating appearance on "The Ed Show", addressed the issue rather deftly:

On Tuesday I most objected to Schultz suggesting that Elizabeth Edwards may be even more to blame than her husband John for supporting his decision to continue to campaign for president even after his affair with Rielle Hunter was known. How do I count the ways that is wrong? John Edwards was both the candidate as well as the philanderer, who even after he'd lost, tried to strike a deal with Obama to become his vice president - and his terminal-cancer-stricken wife, who might have been clinging to the campaign to protect her from the pain of her husband's infidelity and her likely death, is worse than he is? Not surprisingly, Hillary Clinton is also trashed in the book as imperious, bitchy, shrill and insecure, based on anonymous sources from her admittedly dysfunctional campaign. (Read Peter Daou for a staffer's defense of Clinton.) Funny how the worst villains of the book are all women - Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. McCain (did you know she's alleged to have had an affair?) - along with, of course, Sarah Palin. "Game Change" might have been titled "Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse" so badly do those four females, two of them not candidates but wives, come off in what is supposed to be the definitive book about Campaign '08. Boy we've cracked that old glass ceiling!

Roy Sekoff On AIG-Fed Emails: This Has Got To Be The End Of Tim Geithner (VIDEO)

HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff appeared on The Ed Show Thursday to weigh in on news that Tim Geithner and the New York Fed actively worked to keep details of bailed out insurer AIG's payments to Wll Street banks hidden from the public--even though it was taxpayer money that was being used.

Sekoff contends that this is just more evidence that the government has become "Of the bankers, for the bankers, and by the bankers."

Move Your Money: Arianna And Rob Johnson Explain How Moving Your Money Can Change The System

Arianna and Rob Johnson, director of the Economic Policy Initiative at the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute, urged Americans to move their money to community banks during an appearance on the Ed Show with Ed Schultz on Wednesday.

Just last week, Arianna and Rob unveiled Move Your Money, a challenge to Americans fed up with too-big-to-fail banks. The initiative encourages account holders to withdraw their money from big, mismanaged banks and move the funds to smaller, better-managed community banks--institutions that are still lending.
