HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff appeared on "The Ed Show" Thursday evening to weigh in on today's college protests against funding cuts.
Sekoff argued that the protests "shine a spotlight" on the question of our nation's priorities. "Are we going to have a generation that's about creativity, about innovation? Or are we going to spend our money just bailing out Wall Street and fighting two unnecessary wars?"

Sekoff: Really when you look at this, all these things that you've mentioned are like dialogue in a porn movie. No matter how good they are, it's not why people are going to tune in... It's all about the jobs. It's all about letting the middle class know that this past year, where it's been all about Wall Street, has been a big mistake, and he's going to stop that and start making them the top priority.

HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff appeared on The Ed Show Thursday to weigh in on news that Tim Geithner and the New York Fed actively worked to keep details of bailed out insurer AIG's payments to Wll Street banks hidden from the public--even though it was taxpayer money that was being used.
Sekoff contends that this is just more evidence that the government has become "Of the bankers, for the bankers, and by the bankers."

HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff Blasts Cheney For Latest Attack On Obama (VIDEO)
HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff appeared on MSNBC's The Ed Show tonight to discuss how progressives should respond to false right wing attacks on President Obama that politicize security issues. Sekoff told Schultz that the Left needs to hit back hard with the facts.
Singling out Dick Cheney for his particularly harsh, and false, attacks on Obama in the wake of the failed Detroit plane bombing, Sekoff wondered why anyone even listens to Cheney when he "has absolutely no credibility on the issue... Getting lectured on terrorism by Dick Cheney is like getting lectured on parenting by Jon & Kate or fidelity by Tiger Woods."

Roy Sekoff Discusses Latest AIG Bonus Outrage On ‘The Ed Show’ (VIDEO)
HuffPost's Editor, Roy Sekoff, was on The Ed Show Wednesday night to discuss the latest AIG outrage: the refusal of company executives to follow through on their promise to return $45 million in bonuses by the end of the year.
While agreeing with Ed Schultz that this amounted to "business as usual on Wall Street," Sekoff lamented the American public's habit of "getting really mad about the little things, and then we lose sight of the big outrages."
Among the "major outrages" Sekoff cited: the sweetheart $38 billion tax break the IRS just gave Citibank, the fact that the nation's four biggest banks have cut lending by $100 billion over the last six month, and the fact that banks and their lobbyists have "gutted all the financial reforms that would make sure that another AIG didn't happen again."

Roy Sekoff Discusses Palin’s Hawaiian Vacation On “The Joy Behar Show” (VIDEO)
Huffington Post Editor Roy Sekoff appeared on HLN's The Joy Behar Show Thursday night. Talk Stoop's Cat Greenleaf and comedian Jessica Kirson joined Roy on Joy Behar's panel.
Among the topics up for discussion were Tiger Woods's continued drama, MTV's Jersey Shore and its cast of self-described "guidos," as well as Sarah Palin's McCain campaign visor, and Sen. Chuck Schumer's outburst at a flight attendant.
On vacation in Hawaii, Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was spotted wearing a blue visor from the McCain-Palin presidential campaign. But Palin had made one important change to the hat--the letters were blacked out with permanent marker.
Palin said she blacked out the letters to fly under the radar and be "incognito," but Roy isn't buying it. "...I don't [believe her], because her t-shirt said 'this is America and if you don't love it, get the hell out'... so that's always a good way to be incognito."
"Here's the beautiful thing, Joy. Remember, she's in Hawaii. Last week, her father said that she went to school in Hawaii for only one semester then left because she wasn't comfortable with all the Asians and Pacific Islanders... but now, she's back in Hawaii. Maybe she feels more comfortable when they're serving her at a luxury hotel."

Roy Sekoff Talks To Ed Show’s Ed Schultz About The Latest Example Of Why We Need a Public Option
Health insurance giant Aetna is planning to force up to 650,000 clients to drop their coverage in 2010 as the company seeks to meet profit expectations. The move , HuffPost Editor Roy Sekoff argues, is the perfect example of why a public option needs to be included in the Senate health care reform bill. Sekoff appeared on The Ed Show Wednesday with Ed Schultz:
"This is what happens when you make the health and well-being of the American people a bottom line business and as you said, it's why we need a public option. And we need a strong public option and we need a public option that starts on day one, not 2014."
Supporters of the public option argue that a government program would not be driven by profits and prone to moves like the one Aetna plans to make.
Sekoff pointed out that Aetna is based in Connecticut, the home state of Sen. Joe Lieberman, a major opponent of the public option. "The crinkling of the money speaks a little louder in the ears of Joe Lieberman, and Blanche Lincoln and [Ben] Nelson," Sekoff said. "This is the problem. The influence of special interest money, Ed. It's redolent on this issue. The stink of it is powerful."
