Corey Haim's body has been released by the LA coroner after an autopsy, and now it is headed to his native Toronto to be buried next week. Problem is, Corey was broke and his family doesn't have enough money for his funeral.

Corey's cancer-stricken mother posted this request on his website:

Live from Our Family Wedding Premiere

Romantic comedies are usually more miss than hit. For every "Love Actually" (I'm man enough to admit I loved that one) there's way too many sud duds - too many to name here but they usually star Kate Hudson. In any event, the new Fox Searchlight rom-com "Our Family Wedding" seems to be a lot of fun - at least if the premiere earlier this week was any indication.

I spoke with the stars from the film, which centers on the marriage between a young African American man and a Latino bride, and asked them to weigh in on the genre and anything I could think of. Sadly, a strange, feisty Spanish reporter thrusted herself in the way of me and America Ferrera so they'll be no clips of "Ugly Betty" herself. I must say, however, she's anything but ugly in person.

FRC’s Tony Perkins’s attack on D.C. gay marriages is in line with his other false claims

To say that Family Research Council head Tony Perkins isn't happy about the fact that gays and lesbians can marry in Washington, D.C. should be considered a huge understatement.

He makes this incredibly ridiculous statement about the marriages:

President Obama’s Yellowstone Trip Footage Released (VIDEO)

The White House released never-before-seen footage of President Obama's family trip to Yellowstone National Park in the summer of 2009, continuing a long-standing tradition of presidents visiting the park. Chester A. Arthur was the first president to visit it in 1883, and the last one before Obama was Bill Clinton in 1995.

"The notion that collectively we come together and we say, we're gonna preserve some things that last beyond our individual lives, that we're gonna pass that on ... that's part of hopefully what is best about our government," Obama said.

PBS’s This Emotional Life: What The Hurt Locker Got Right

Filed under: News, Original Content — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , — Brigadier General (Ret) Stephen N. Xenakis, M.D. @ 7:00 pm
Much to the confusion of those who have not experienced combat -- parents and spouses, siblings and friends -- many young people say that 'going to war' was one of the best things that ever happened to them. Several of my friends from the Vietnam era attribute maturing and gaining purpose in their lives to serving in the military. Others find a new family and sense of belonging during the trials of combat.

But few are exempt from experiencing bad memories and emotional swings upon coming back home. They are changed, and as a changed person they now must fit into a world that has not moved along as they have. Indeed, those closest to the soldiers, so relieved and happy to be together again, only want them to get back to who they were before the disruption of a deployment.

Message to Republicans: Stop Hiding Behind the Troops

In what can only be described as a cheap partisan attack masquerading as patriotic chest-thumping, House Republicans this morning issued a statement opposing Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich's resolution for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan because... [drum roll please] the Republicans strongly support the troops in Afghanistan.

In a statement of Republican policy forwarded to GOP politicians and their staffers, the House Republican Leadership and the House Committees on Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Republicans write, "Since the President's speech, more United States Armed Forces have been deployed to the Afghanistan theatre in support of the implementation of our nation's counterinsurgency strategy. Many of them leave behind family and friends for the second, third, and fourth time. They have been engaged in the largest offensive since the beginning of the war there, and they have done a magnificent job. House Republicans are mindful these troops and their families will be watching this debate and remain committed to working towards swift and clean action when the resources impacting their military readiness, operational needs, and family support is debated and passed this spring."
