Recently, I've read a number of articles about the alpha woman/beta man relationship. As more women become breadwinners in their households, there seems to be a new stereotype forming around the label, the beta male.

Apparently, if a woman makes more money, has more ambition, and often, is better educated than her husband, then he must be non-aggressive, domestic, and a bit dependent. If one sex rises in power, the other loses their clout.

Stop Wasting Your Leadership

I have countless friends that run start up or growth stage non-profit organizations. I love what they are aiming to do, I am excited to see their passion for their work, and I am eager for them to achieve their goals.

Sadly, many of them hit roadblocks: Not enough money, not enough staff, not enough guidance, not enough credibility, not enough branding; and the list goes on and on. It does not have to be this way.

Homeless Florida Couple Gets Married

Although Nan Schrack and Mark Neville have been together since the mid-1990s, years of homelessness, unemployment and health problems have made it difficult for the couple to express their love like other couples might: by getting married.

When Neville approached Jim McNeil, a volunteer at a local church, for suggestions on how to raise money to get married, he had no idea the support he and his bride would receive. McNeil collected money from church parishioners to buy wedding rings, convinced a local hair salon to offer the couple free haircuts and found wedding clothes for them to wear. Wednesday afternoon, in an outdoor ceremony attended by the couple's friends, Neville and Schrack finally said their vows.

Move Our Money: Why Universities Should Join the Movement

How much money do you have in the bank? Whether it's $1,000 or $1 million, those deposits cumulatively have a big impact on the local economy, and even more so if you put them in a local bank or credit union. That's the whole idea behind the Move Your Money campaign: taking your money out of the big banks, and putting into a local bank or credit union, can impact your local economy.

Big banks may take the money that is deposited and lend it to major corporations doing things like mountaintop removal coal mining and use it to make risky investments in derivatives, while at the same time charging high fees on credit cards and making predatory loans to low-income people.

Are Student Services Cheaper and Better?

Would you trust a student driver to get you to the airport fast? Probably not, but you certainly wouldn't mind getting a free massage from a student at a top-notch massage institute. With students training to be tomorrow's masters, there's money to be saved using their services.

Andrea Chalupa, Walletpop's writer and producer of the Savings Experiment traveled to various locations where students are providing services that are cheaper than the norm. We found out that student hair dressers at the Aveda Academy charge $30 less than your average NYC haircut, Columbia University offers discounted dental care that is 50% less, dining at the Culinary Institute will save you money, and even law services by upcoming lawyers are much cheaper.

DO WE REALLY NEED TO BLOW UP THE PLANET FIVE TIMES OVER?

Can the nearly bankrupt United States afford to spend billions more of borrowed money on nuclear weapons that are unlikely to ever be used, and which serve no useful military purpose?

That is the weighty question confronting President Barack Obama as he prepares his overdue Nuclear Posture Review. Each new American president must by law review his nation's nuclear weapons and strategy.
